The most populous city within the county is Sierra Vista, but the county seat resides in Bisbee. Cochise County’s Detention Division is directed by the Jail Commander, and according to the county’s website, its role is to “maintain the custody of pre-trial prisoners and carry out the judgments of the courts.” The Division is comprised of a main jail in Brisbee, AZ, a substation in Willcox, AZ, and a juvenile detention center located in Sierra Vista. The main prison of Cochise County can be found in Douglas.

Bisbee Jail is Cochise County’s main jail, as well as the largest in the county. The medium security jail is situated in Bisbee’s metropolitan area across from the Bisbee Justice Court. It holds 60 housing units for a total capacity of 1174 inmates, ranging from low-level misdemeanor offenders to serious violent criminals.

Willcox Jail is one of the two substations under Cochise County Jail (Bisbee). This Adult direct supervision correctional facility boasts 69 housing units with a capacity of 1088 inmates.

The Cochise County Juvenile Detention Center is managed by the Cochise County Sherriff’s Office. In addition to holding pre-trial detainees and those awaiting sentencing, the facility also offers detention facilities for the city of Sierra Vista for violators of probation. The capacity sits at about 40 inmates but can hold 48 in cases of an emergency.
